The Myers Group is a diverse group of companies comprising of a ready-mix concrete business, block extraction and aggregate quarry, dimensioned stone factory, builders merchants business and waste transfer station. The company employ approximately 350 people throughout Yorkshire, supplying a vast range of customers both locally and nationally ranging from DIY enthusiasts to major contractors. The business is family run and owned and has been in operation for over 50 years.
The diversity of the business makes managing and running Health and Safety systems and achieving good employee buy in extremely challenging. With the introduction of a new senior management team, the fourth generation, has come a change in style and approach to Health and Safety to meet the needs of the business.
Safety Coaching assisted the Senior and Operational management teams since 2012 by:-
- Helping the management team recognise their leadership role in safety, through leading by example and influencing others to work in safe manner,
- Increasing workforce engagement in safety across all business divisions, making systems and standards easy to understand and apply to effectively reduce the risk,
- Providing personal safety coaching to Senior Management personnel with regards to planning, onsite performance monitoring, feedback and reflection,
- Coaching and development plans for key internal staff such as Health & Safety Advisers and Training/ Competency Management to become self-sufficient to meet the company’s medium and long term objectives.
